Provides evidence-based, trauma-focused counseling services to youth ages 13 to 17 years that have experienced or witnessed a traumatic event; Special emphasis on youth who have been separated because of immigration; For more information visit: https://www.scan-inc.org/border_trauma.htmlServices and Activities: Traumatic events include physical and sexual abuse; exposure to family, school and community violence; grief and loss; natural and man-made disasters; military related trauma; living with an impaired caregiver; and involvement in the child welfare or juvenile justice system; Treatment – BTSRC uses several evidence-based treatment models including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Trauma Systems Therapy for Substance Abuse (TST-SA), and Alternatives for Families: A Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (AF-CBT), and Trauma Affect Regulation: Guide for Education and Therapy (TARGET); Community Awareness – BTSRC provides community presentations and training on child traumatic stress; Referrals – To be eligible for services, youth must be between the ages of 3 and 17 and have been exposed to a traumatic event.
