Our services help children from birth to age 3 overcome difficulties in early development. Together, parents and staff work to improve the child’s physical, cognitive, social, and adaptive development in an effort to build a stronger foundation for the child’s future. ECI providers work with families and caregivers by coaching them on ways to include activities to promote their child’s growth and development into the child and family’s daily activities. This approach allows the family to work daily with their child using the activities they learned.Referrals can be made as soon as a delay is suspected and do not need to be made by a professional. Parents, grandparents, child care providers, or health care workers can refer a child to ECI. If you notice your child is not reaching developmental milestones by a certain age, you can make a referral to ECI. Here are a few milestone examples:My child is not: Rolling Crawling Sitting Eating Walking Talking Playing with others Responding to others For more examples, see ECI’s Developmental Milestones ChecklistECI’s Information for Families webpage provides a wealth of information for families who may be interested in ECI services.
