Assists people in a mental health crisis who are a danger to themselves or to another person. Uniformed officers respond to the crisis first and contact the Crisis Intervention Team when needed.Operates a Crisis Intervention Team, made up of officers with mental health training. Links individuals with appropriate resources for ongoing assistance, if needed. May issue a peace officer emergency commitment (POEC) for involuntary commitment to a psychiatric facility.Officers wear civilian clothes and drive unmarked vehicles during the regular office hours. Uniformed officers respond during after-hour emergencies.
