Increase Wellness, Decrease Illness

January 26, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Individuals with a mental illness may develop cancer at a 2.6 times higher rate on account of tobacco use, delays in screening leading to late-stage diagnosis and inadequate treatment. In addition, people with a mental illness face higher rates of obesity and metabolic-related health problems, which further increases the risk of cancer, cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes.

How can we improve our clients’ health and well-being to best address obesity, metabolic-related health problems, cancer and other health outcomes?

Join the National Behavioral Health Network for Tobacco and Cancer Control (NBHN) on Tuesday, January 26, from 1– 2 p.m. ET for “Increase Wellness, Decrease Illness,” a webinar exploring the connection between wellness and behavioral interventions for cancer patients and caregivers with Kathleen Garrett, MA, CTTS, clinical associate and research senior instructor at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.

You’ll not only understand the association between obesity, insulin resistance and cancer risk, you’ll get practical guidance on how to build stronger mental health resiliency among your clients coping with cancer.
