1 in 5 people are affected by mental illness – our families, our friends, our neighbors, church members, and our community. Often, substance abuse, school and work problems, family dysfunction, homelessness, and suicide are caused by the underlying issue of mental illness. It affects Amarillo. It affects us. Let’s work together to: raise awareness, end stigma, encourage treatment, and improve mental health services in our community. Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 12th, 3-5 pm atMemorial Park (next to Amarillo College). We are encouraging our community leaders, mental health peers, families, friends and health providers to walk with us and donate to our cause.
