Healing on our Screens, Healing on our Streets – hybrid in-person/virtual

This training will provide information on how online connection and social media can be a source of healing for those affected by gender-based violence. Both our culture at large and the mental health profession specifically often view online connection and especially social media as less valid, less rich, and as having negative and harmful impacts. Little attendance is given to the potential healing and even lifesaving impacts of online social platforms, and this runs the risk of alienating and invalidating the people we care about from family and friends to clients. By recognizing online communities as a resource, we can offer more affirming support to those around us who may be facing gender-based violence.
