State Hospital System and Children’s Mental Health Discussion

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission Children’s Mental Health Team and chief medical officer of the state hospital system will be collaborating on a presentation regarding the role of state hospitals for children, adolescents, and adults. The presentation will cover the role of the state hospital system, a detailed description of facilities that serve children, adolescents and adults, and the admission criteria for state hospitals. The presentation will also cover how to access inpatient care, the different roles of local mental health authorities, children’s mental health, and the state hospital system through the inpatient care waitlist. This discussion will help guide CRCG leaders with their recommendations when inpatient care is clinically necessary.
